pls read experience at ms interview iit madras (mechanical) 2014 - design  for more details regarding the no of students, campus n selections

WRITTEN TEST QUESTIONS:(theory + obj)
1. prove Clausius inequality
2. 2 statements of 2nd law of thermodynamics
3. some objective questions on fluid mechanics

the INTERVIEW (most imp part for MS)
1. basic questions as mentioned in the above link
2. draw graphs of various functions and relate it various situations studied in the thermal portion like
exponential curve of lumped heat mass analysis.
3. reason for conduction convection and radiation in solid liquid and gas
4. what do you understand my compressibility and various  dimensionless numbers and their usage and conditions where they are applicable.
5. types of flow
6. what is continuity and derivability  and their conditions.

      which they mailed me and in that we need to fill form and need to submit in that i page is of choosing research area (primary topic)

      you have to choose the primary and secondary topics from the list mentioned in the link. " list of research topics" .

      go through each topic and carefully select the topics and prepare the basic questions for it, like why you have chosen this and what if dont get it?

  2. Bhai, as you mentioned written test was different for you and your friends according to your preferences..... but it seems like, now, there are a huge amount of totally different choices varying far from each other. So, what should we expect for the written to cover?

  3. this time there a bit change in topics selection. it was design thermal or production only but now they have specifically mentioned the topics of research, among which you can select.

    for written test, the paper will be very basic as i have mentioned earlier. so dont assume the things just prepare your basics and should be crystal clear with that

      Also, they say you should know about the faculty guide you are interested in. Do I need to mention one at the time of interview or can I have some time for decision after interview?

    4. Yes go through all basic subjects except industrial and give more emphasis on the research field you have selected.
      MATHEMATICS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

      yes you can see the profile of all faculties and choose 2-3 at present which are of same field as per the research work and so you can name them in the panel, if they ask you.

      but, generally these questions are asked to phd students
