pls read  experience at ms interview iit madras (mechanical) 2014 - design    for more details regarding the no of students, campus n selections WRITTEN TEST QUESTIONS:(theory + obj) 1. prove Clausius inequality 2. 2 statements of 2nd law of thermodynamics 3. some objective questions on fluid mechanics the INTERVIEW (most imp part for MS) 1. basic questions as mentioned in the above link 2. draw graphs of various functions and relate it various situations studied in the thermal portion like exponential curve of lumped heat mass analysis. 3. reason for conduction convection and radiation in solid liquid and gas 4. what do you understand my compressibility and various  dimensionless numbers and their usage and conditions where they are applicable. 5. types of flow 6. what is continuity and derivability  and their conditions. do comment for any personal query. thank u....

hello friends, I received call letter 15-20 days before the interview date. It was mention to be prepared for the group you have selected (DESIGN THERMAL or PRODUCTION) I selected the DESIGN group: I reached there as per the mentioned date n time. I saw a number of students waiting for further information (5 to 6 times the no of seats in the MS mechanical) There was a written test for each group, which were seated in different rooms. my questions were very basic like:(Theory + obj) 1. draw elastic material stress vs strain curve 2. derive the expression of elongation for loading under self weight some easy objective questions but the time allotted was less, 30 mins and 15 questions. After 1 hour of the written test they announced the result, and i was selected. The number has reduced to half (2.5 to 3 times the no of seats in the MS mechanical) now the INTERVIEW (most imp part for MS) panel of 8-10 members all in early to end forties.
